The Department of Neurology at WMCHealth and New York Medical College is seeking a full-time Regional Academic Neurohospitalist to join our expanding academic neurology program serving New York's Hudson Valley.
This is not a traditional neurohospitalist position. It is an opportunity to help build an innovative regional inpatient neurology service spanning MidHudson Regional Hospital (Poughkeepsie) and HealthAlliance Hospital (Kingston) while practicing within one of New York's largest integrated academic health systems.

Position Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Provide inpatient neurology consultation services across MidHudson Regional Hospital and HealthAlliance Hospital.
  • Evaluate and manage patients with acute neurological disorders including stroke, seizure, encephalopathy, neuromuscular disease, movement disorders, headache, neuroimmunologic disorders, and other neurological emergencies.
  • Collaborate closely with vascular neurology, neurocritical care, neurosurgery, neurointerventional surgery, hospital medicine, emergency medicine, intensive care, rehabilitation, and other multidisciplinary teams.
  • Supervise Advanced Practice Providers and neurology residents, as appropriate.
  • Contribute to standardized, high-quality neurological care across the Northern Region of the Hudson Valley.
Education
  • Teach neurology residents and New York Medical College medical students.
  • Participate in departmental conferences, case discussions, journal clubs, and educational activities.
  • Mentor trainees with an interest in inpatient neurology and academic medicine.
Leadership and Program Development
This position offers a rare opportunity to help shape a growing regional neuroscience program.
Responsibilities include:
  • Building an integrated regional inpatient neurology service
  • Developing standardized clinical pathways and best practices
  • Participating in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Supporting strategic growth of neurological services throughout the Northern Region
  • Collaborating with physician leaders to improve access, quality, and continuity of neurological care
Practice Model
Clinical responsibilities are shared across two closely affiliated hospitals located approximately 30 minutes apart within an integrated regional neurology program  
This regional model provides clinical variety, academic engagement, and the opportunity to help develop innovative systems of neurological care while maintaining continuity across hospitals.

Qualifications
  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurology
  • Eligible for unrestricted New York State medical licensure
  • Excellent clinical, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Interest in inpatient neurology, education, quality improvement, and program development
  • Commitment to collaborative, patient-centered care
